Manos de Madres ("Hands of Mothers") is a non-profit organization dedicated to carving pathways out of poverty and improving the lives of women and their families through income generation initiatives founded upon the principles of cooperation, creativity, fair trade and sustainability. Beginning in 2003 with projects in Honduras, Manos works exclusively with women in existing or emerging cooperatives to develop capacity through financial, technical and business training support as well as creative assistance in product development and production. Manos de Madres strives to ensure that fair trade standards are maintained and that food security, health and education objectives are furthered. Employing a business model, Manos de Madres provides a vital marketing and sales bridge to the U.S. while assisting in the development of local markets. Manos de Madres is a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation (FTF) and Green America. |
